🔧 What Is a Saver Sub?

A saver sub (also called a sub saver) is a sacrificial wear component that threads between the drive chuck and the drill pipe. It protects the drive chuck threads from wear during normal drilling operations. Always replace your saver sub when changing drill pipe — a worn saver sub will accelerate wear on your drive chuck and can cause costly damage. Saver subs should be checked regularly and replaced as needed.
